My name is Dwyn Griffin after my father Dwayne Griffin, Call me intense, vibrant, and outgoing; nevertheless, I love networking with people who can appreciate my zest for knowledge.I present people with respect so they give me respect in return.I know myself very well, however I am confident and not cocky.Someone once told me always stick my neck out for the things you believe in, because “If you do not stand for something you will fall for anything.”If you do not know yourself or your expectation, people will make their own assumptions and treat you accordingly. So therefore one of my biggest strengths is being driven to achieve higher success and to become a leader rather than a follower.I will excel at all costs. One of the main reasons I have succeeded in life thus far is because of my motivators. My main motivators are my mom, dad, older sister, older brother, grandmother, and my two aunts just to name a few.My family is striving to be successful because they won’t settle for small amounts of money, or even less amounts of respect.Beaver Run, West Salisbury, and Glen Avenue where the three school I attended as a little girl where I was an exceptional student who was interested in learning. The middle school I attended was called Salisbury Middle. In middle school I was what you would call a class clown. However, when I attended Wicomico High School I began to focus more on academics. During high school I began to take classes that would prepare me for college. I graduated with a pretty good grade point average as well as play sports year around and I also worked a part-time job.In addition to playing sports I love to read and hangout with my friends and family. I have traveled to ten of the 50 states some with my family and some with my traveling basketball team.If I am bored I will read any book that is around me.One of my major goals in life is to be successful as a teacher. As a teacher I would instill in the children that education is imperative, especially in the African American Community.I want children to get some of the knowledge and choices I didn’t receive when I was growing up.Another goal I have is becoming a principal or assistant principal, because by then I would have taught for several years, I would be able to understand why children do certain things in the classroom. As an administrator I wouldn’t belittle the children by just agreeing with the teacher I would value the child’s point of view.So I am really striving to be the best teacher I can be at Bowie State University. Currenlty my grade point average is 3.2 and I am looking forward to improving it each passing semster. I plan to graduate in 2010 with my degree in Elementary Education and give children the zest for knowledge I possess.
My philosophy of education is that every child has the right to learn and that every child is capable of learning no matter what race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, where they come from or even if they have a disability. I believe that each child is different, so therefore, in order to help them I will differeniate my teaching to cater to there learning styles. All children need to be successful is that person or persons who bring it out of them because each child is reachable. It just takes that one person to believe in them. I believe children should be taught book smarts as well as the skill that will help them deal with everyday life issues they will face throughout life. In addition to that I believe educators should dress, act, and speak professionally because the children are constantly watching the adults around them. Child learn by observing and imitating. Another thing each teacher should posses is a passion to teach and care for children because they are the future. The one thing that every famous person has had in there life is a teacher or educator. Educators are shape the future.
